Chapter 5
I.                  Part of dialogue 
Electra: “Read my card, it says ‘keep running in to murders’.”
Miss Temple Barr:” You sound like my husband.”
Electra: “Speaking of your husband, I saw you are playing out by the pool-“
Miss Temple Barr:”My husband’s teaching me the fundamentals of self-defense.” (1)
Electra: “That’s silly.”
Miss Temple Barr:”What do you mean? I’m the one of his life.”
Electra: “Sorry, it just a joke. All right, you are student, he is teacher”
Miss Temple Barr:”Oh, you are a humorist person.”
II.               Analysis of the novel using elements of thought
a.      Purpose:  Electra wants to know of what did Mr. Matt Devine to do when they (Miss Temple Barr and Mr. Matt Devine) were playing out the pool.
b.      Problem:
·         Miss Temple Barr problem is; she must learn the fundamentals of self-defense by her husband.
·         Electra problem is; she wants to make a joke, but Miss Temple Barr considered it serious.

c.       Fact, conclusion, and assumption:
a.      The fact that Miss Temple Barr considered of Electra’s joke was serious.
Miss Temple Barr:”My husband’s teaching me the fundamentals of self-defense.”
Electra: “That’s silly.”
Miss Temple Barr:”What do you mean? I’m the one of his life.”
Conclusion: Miss Temple Barr considered that Electra’s joke was serious.
Assumptions: Miss. Temple Barr was angry to Electra because she loved her husband very much, she won’t another person judge him bad.
d.      Concepts:
There are 3 key concepts in the reasoning; murders, self-defense and silly.
e.       Implications:
 This situation is relax, but Miss. Temple Barr felt angry when she got a comment from Electra  “silly”, and Electra tried to explain that was a joke.
f.       Point of view:
·         Miss. Temple Barr was a sensitive woman, she was angry when Electra gave her a comment “silly”.
·         Electra was a humorist person, but she didn’t know how to make a good joke.

Chapter 6
I.                   Part of dialogue 
Mr. Matt Devine: “How much you care of me honey?”(1)
Miss. Temple Barr:” if only I knew”
Mr. Matt Devine: “A hundred or more, and why you don’t ask me how much I care of you?” (2)
Miss. Temple Barr:”if only I knew honey, it is important to me? I believe that you my endless love.”
Mr. Matt Devine:”oh- all right I love you so much.”
Miss. Temple Barr:”love you too.”

II.                Analysis of the novel using elements of thought
a.      Purpose:  Mr. Matt Devine wants to know how much her wife care of him.
b.      Problem:
·         Miss. Temple Barr problem is: she can not count how much her care of his husband.
·         Mr. Matt Devine is: he didn’t know how much his wife care of him.
c.       Fact, conclusion, and assumption:
1.      The fact that Mr. Matt Devine wants to know how much his wife care of him.
Mr. Matt Devine: “How much you care of me honey?”
Miss. Temple Barr:” if only I knew”
Conclusion: Mr. Matt Devine is really wants to know how much his wife care of him.
Assumptions: Mr. Matt Devine is still hesitate of his wife, that she is really love and care of him or not.


2.      The fact that Mr. Matt Devine is still embittered of how much his wife is carrying him.
Mr. Matt Devine: “A hundred or more, and why you don’t ask me how much I care of you?”
Miss. Temple Barr:”if only I knew honey, it is important to me? I believe that you my endless love.”
Conclusion: Mr. Matt Devine always chase c a question, how much her wife care of him.
Assumptions: Miss. Temple Barr can not count how much her care of his husband, she just believe that Mr. Matt Devine is her endless love.

d.      Concept
There are 2 key concepts in the reasoning: honey, and endless love.

e.       Implication:
It is very romantic of this dialogue, Mr. Matt Devine always chase her wife a question, how much she care of him.
f.       Point of view
·         Mr. Matt Devine was unbeliever, he always chase a question, how much his wife care of him.
·         Mr. Matt Devine was an honest woman, because she explained her husband that she didn’t know how much she care of her husband, but she believed Mr. Matt Devine was her endless love.

Chapter 7
I.                   Part of dialogue
(By phone)
Seraphina:”Hello, do you hear me Matt? I’m in Las Vegas.”
 Mr. Matt Devine:”Hello my sister, have you any problem there?”
 Seraphina:”Yes, I need a……consultant.”
Mr. Matt Devine:”Oh, really, you are in Las Vegas, where do you stay?”(1)
Seraphina:” Don’t so incredulous, Matt. I’m still near of you. How’s everything there? I miss your wife, I want met her.”
Mr. Matt Devine:”Ok, visit us, our apartment is near of inner-city Las Vegas.”(2)

II.                Analysis of the novel using elements of thought
a.       Purpose:  Make a meeting in Las Vegas to solve Seraphina’s problems.
b.      Problem :
·         Seraphina problem is; she needs a consultant to solve her problems.
·         Mr. Matt Devine problem be wary of his sister, because he didn’t know where she is lived.

c.       Fact, conclusion, and assumption:
1.      The fact that Mr. Matt Devine be wary of his sister.
Mr. Matt Devine:”Oh, really, you are in Las Vegas, where do you stay?”
Seraphina:” Don’t so incredulous, Matt. I’m still near of you. How’s everything there? I       miss your wife, I want met her.”
Conclusion: Mr. Matt Devine be wary of his sister, because he didn’t know where she is lived.
Assumptions: Seraphina made Mr. Matt Devine embittered, because she didn’t explain where she lived, she just explained Mr. Matt Devine she is still near of him.
2.      The fact that Mr. Matt Devine is very friendly and welcome.
Mr. Matt Devine:”Ok, visit us, our apartment is near of inner-city Las Vegas.”
Conclusion: Mr. Matt Devine is very friendly and welcome to his sister.
Assumptions: Mr. Matt Devine is trying being a friend and welcome to his sister, he is not angry or disappointed of his sister, because of his sister not explained her probem by phone.

d.      Concept
There is 1 key concept in the reasoning: Incredulous.
e.       Implication:
At that time, the situation is very tight, Seraphina was trying to make Mr. Matt Devine be calm, but Mr. Matt Devine was wary of  Seraphina was in Las Vegas.
f.       Point of view:

·         Seraphina is a patient girl, she is not put bad way to solve her problem, she chose Mr. Matt Devine’s wife be her consultant/counselor.
·          Mr. Matt Devine is a good brother; he is very friendly and welcome to his sister.


Chapter 8
I.                   Part of dialogue 
Miss. Temple Barr:”Honey, where is Louie (a cat) ?(1)
Mr. Matt Devine:”Don’t ask me, I’m very busy right now.” he is typing, on his big room with a light-lamp. He opened the muslin, and he tried to find Louie.
Miss. Temple Barr:”Have you ever seen Louie wet? He might look as spindly.(2)
Mr. Matt Devine:”Not yet, don’t worry, our cat is smart”.


II.                Analysis of the novel using elements of thought
a.      Purpose: Put through where is Louie.
b.      Problem :
·         Miss. Temple Barr problem are: she is alarming her pet (Louie), she didn’t know where Louie is at that time.
·         Mr. Matt Devine problem are: he is very busy of his work, he is also alarming Louie, but he didn’t show it to his wife.
c.       Fact, conclusion, and assumption:
1.      The fact that Miss. Temple Barr is alarming her pet.
Miss. Temple Barr:”Honey, where is Louie?
Mr. Matt Devine:”Don’t ask me, I’m very busy right now.” he is typing, on his big room with a light-lamp. He opened the muslin, and he tried to find Louie.
Conclusion: Miss. Temple Barr is alarming her pet (Louie), at that time is raining and she didn’t know where Louie is.
Assumptions: Both of them were alarming their her pet, because at that time it was raining, and Mr. Matt Devine felt that her wife disturbed him when he worked in his room.
2.      The fact that Miss. Temple Barr is alarming her pet be wet, cause of raining.
Miss. Temple Barr:”Have you ever seen Louie wet? He might look as spindly.

Conclusion: Miss. Temple Barr is alarming, if Louie get caught in rain.
Assumptions: Miss. Temple Barr won’t see her pet/cat is wet, because she won’t see Louie looks as spindly.

d.      Concept
There are 2 key concepts in reasoning: Louie, and spindly.
e.       Implications
At that time the situation is tight and alarming. Miss. Temple Barr is alarming her pet be wet, because at that time was raining, Miss. Temple Barr won’t ask her husband to find out Louie, she know that her husband was busy.
f.       Point of view:
·         Miss. Temple Barr is a carrying people, she is alarming her pet.
·         Mr. Matt Devine is a egoist person, he hadn’t idea to make her wife stop thinking about Louie. Like find out Louie, he just wait the time, and enjoyed his work, and when her wife asked him about Louie, he felt that his wife disturb him.
